The Luthier

Kenneth Brögger is one of the most respected names in the classical guitar world today. Based in Denmark, his work is defined by a deep reverence for the Hauser and Torres traditions, combined with an artist’s eye for detail. Brögger’s "Stradivarius" model is his most celebrated design, where he pays homage to the legendary violin maker Antonio Stradivari. The visual appointments—most notably the intricate purfling and the bone/mother-of-pearl inlays—are inspired by the decorated "Ole Bull" and "Greffuhle" Stradivarius violins. To own a Brögger is to own a piece of functional art that bridges the gap between the golden age of Cremonese violin making and the modern concert guitar.

The Sound

Sonically, this instrument is unmistakably "Hauser" in its DNA. It possesses a crystalline clarity and a "creamy" sweetness that is rarely found in contemporary builds.

  • The Basses: Powerful, deep, and firm, providing a rock-solid foundation without ever becoming muddy.

  • The Trebles: Elegant and projecting. They have a bell-like quality that carries effortlessly.

  • Response: This is a "low-effort" instrument in the best possible way. You don’t have to "fight" the guitar to extract a beautiful tone; the sound blooms at the lightest touch. It is equally at home as a "joy of the house" for intimate playing as it is a "concert machine" capable of projecting to the back row of a hall.

Condition and Playability

The playability is exceptional, particularly for the right hand. The setup is dialed for a professional touch where full, rounded notes roll off the strings with minimal tension. For the left hand, the guitar is remarkably sensitive to vibrato—small nuances in the fingers are immediately translated into a charming, lyrical voice.

Note on Condition: There is a hairline crack on the spruce top near the bridge. It has been masterfully repaired and cleated by a top-tier technician; it is structurally stable and has zero impact on the acoustic integrity or longevity of the instrument. Because of this, we are able to offer this world-class instrument at a significantly more accessible price point.

Final Thoughts

The 2014 Brögger Stradivarius is a rare find. It offers a benchmark Hauser-style sound and a museum-quality aesthetic at a fraction of the cost of a vintage German masterwork. It is a total sensory experience—a joy for the eyes, a thrill for the ears, and a deep dive into the historical culture of stringed instruments.
